Fate of immigration law uncertain after Senate vote falls short

The Senate on Thursday refused to shut off debate on the immigration overhaul bill and move toward a vote, leaving the fate of the legislation uncertain and setting up another, all-important procedural vote later. The move to end debate was rejected by 63 to 33, so the bill’s backers fell 27 votes short of the 60 needed to invoke what is known as cloture and set up a yes-or-no vote on the legislation itself. The result was a setback not only for the bill’s supporters but also for President George W. Bush, who has made a comprehensive immigration bill one of his top legislative priorities. Nevertheless, Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the Democratic majority leader, scheduled another, make-or-break cloture vote Thursday evening. The man exposed his backside to the child in Upper Midvale Road early on Thursday morning. A Jersey Police spokesman said the man is believed to be aged about 50 years old, 6ft 2in tall, with dark collar- length hair. Park indecent exposure man hunted
A man has indecently exposed himself to teenage girls in Mote Park on two separate occasions. Police said a third incident involved a man making lewd comments to another young girl. They believe the offender could be the same person. He is described as white, aged 30-plus, of short to medium height and has sometimes worn glasses.
