Girl Tourist Gets In.; But Immigration Law Annoyed Stella Kellett’s Relatives


When James A. Stewart, manager of the Pacific Steam Navigation Company at Valparaiso, arrived yesterday morning on the Royal Mail Steam Packet Trent, with his two nieces, Miss Isabelle and Miss Stella Kellett, he was surprised to find that the immigration officials would not allow Miss Stella to land because she was only 14, and he had no papers to show that he had been appointed guardian by her parents.

When Walcryan Schmieda went to work for old Heinrich Kaminska in his shop in Rotterdam, Holland, several years ago, he did so that he might be near the old merchant's pretty, yellow-haired daughter, Bromstawa. Park indecent exposure man hunted

A man has indecently exposed himself to teenage girls in Mote Park on two separate occasions. Police said a third incident involved a man making lewd comments to another young girl. They believe the offender could be the same person. He is described as white, aged 30-plus, of short to medium height and has sometimes worn glasses. The Law on Elian Gonzalez

Attorney General Janet Reno has correctly asserted that the tangled case of Elian Gonzalez, the 6-year-old Cuban boy now living with relatives in Miami, must be decided under federal immigration law, not in the Florida courts. Her declaration will not settle the complicated dispute that pits the Clinton administration and the Immigration and Naturalization Service against Congressional conservatives and anti-Castro Cubans in Miami. But it is a start toward legal clarity, which represents the best road out of a mess where political agreement will never be possible.
